Sudan’s conflict has led to a surge in violence against children, with sexual assault, abduction, and killings occurring more and more regularly, according to the SIHA Network. The Network reported a sharp rise in conflict-related sexual violence, disproportionately affecting girls, though it is believed that many cases go unreported. SIHA documented brutal attacks, including the abduction and rape of young girls by the Rapid Support Forces, some of whom died from their injuries in the absence of healthcare. The organization urged the international community, national institutions, and Sudanese civil society organizations to establish protection systems and increase resources for healthcare and psychological support. It also warned that failing to address these crimes risks creating a “broken generation” and fueling future instability.
