The UN's Office of the High Commissioner of Hurman Rights has expressed alarm about reports of women and girls being abducted, held in slave-like conditions, and forced into marriages in areas under the control of the Rapid Support Forces since civil strife erupted in April 2023. Such incidents were initially noted in the Khartoum area, and increasingly in the Darfur and Kordofan regions.
