Note to participating countries: The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence has released the 2007 Take Action Tool Kit! Click HERE to access the 2007 kit.

Since 1991, the Center for Women's Global Leadership has sponsered the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence to promote awareness on gender violence as a global human rights issue. The campaign seeks to promote transnational advocacy networks, creating links between the local and the global.

This year's 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence focuses on overcoming the challenges and obstacles that hinder women's human rights activists' ability to stop violence against women. The main issues of concern are: demanding and securing acurate funding, creating greater political accountability and commitment to ending violence against women, increasing awareness on the impact of gender violence, evaluating the effectiveness of current work, and securing space for gender advocacy.
