According to an article published by Moldpres, a country-wide integrated information system on family violence will be created to help coordinate all levels of government in combating domestic violence. In the summer of 2008, President Vladimir Voronin and heads of numerous ministries convened to discuss the project.  The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is also involved. The information system, once established, will help the government pursue perpetrators of domestic violence and help victims of abuse.  Until now, information on family violence has been scattered and unreliable.  The integrated system will create a uniform database on domestic violence.  The article reports that the project’s first step will be carried out in the districts of Drochia and Cahul, which boast a strong commitment to fighting family violence. On 10 September 2008, an agreement was signed in support of this nation-wide integrated system.
