In January 2007, the Council of Europe released an updated report on laws an legislation regarding violence against women in 46 member states. This report includes changes and updated information on 40 of the 46 member states since the last published report on violence against women legislation in 2006.

The report is a country-by-country compendium on the situation of violence against women in each of the presented 46 member states. The report contains information on legislation and sanctions, sentencing, effectiveness of legislation, domestic violence, rape and sexual assault in marriage, rape and sexual assault in general, sexual harrassment, and incest and abuse of girls. The report is designed to aid in comparative study and serve as a resource for those who work in combatting violence against women.
