The Women's Empowerment Network Steering Group is calling on the UN to place more women in upper-level positions. Composed of twenty high-level officials, ministers, and diplomats, the Women's Empowerment Network Steering Group was established in September 2006. The group highlighted the fact that there are no female envoys to conflict and post-conflict regions and called for changes to be made, including the appointment of more female heads of peace operations.
