The United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women website posted three videos reviewing the model framework for legislation on violence against women created in the 2008 expert group meeting. From May 26-28, 2008, an expert group meeting convened in Vienna, Austria, to discuss good practices in legislation on violence against women. The meeting was organized by the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDAW/DESA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The meeting created a model framework for legislation on violence against women and contained comprehensive recommendations, commentaries, and examples of good practices. The framework includes recommendations that apply to all forms of violence against women, and recommendations that specifically address domestic or sexual violence.

P. Imrana Jalal, the Chairperson of the expert group meeting on good practices in legislation to address violence against women, and Cheryl Thomas, Director of the Women's Program of The Advocates for Human Rights and Rapporteur of the expert group meeting, met in March 2009 to discuss the model framework for legislation. Three videos were made documenting this discussion between the Chairperson and the Rapporteur. The videos give an overview of the model framework and the recommendations for legislation on all forms of violence against women, and then discuss certain recommendations regarding legislation on domestic violence and legislation on sexual violence. The videos can be viewed here at the bottom of the page, and should be watched in sequential order to get the entire briefing on the model framework for legislation.
