On Saturday, September 27, 2025, thousands marched in Argentina to denounce the brutal triple femicide of Lara Gutiérrez (15) and her cousins Brenda del Castillo and Morena Verri (20), who were lured into a narco trap in Florencio Varela, tortured, and murdered with extreme violence. Data collected finds that there have been over 168 femicides in Argentina from January to August 2025. This means an average of 1 femicide every 30 hours.
Their bodies were discovered days later, sparking national outrage and accusations of police and judicial complicity. The case reveals how the brutality of narcocriminal gangs is gaining ground in Buenos Aires, as families and activists demand the case be transferred to federal courts. Authorities are still investigating the case, with 12 people held in custody.
