According to the Bolivian Attorney General’s Office, 60 cases of femicides were recorded in the country between January and September 2025. This is a slight decrease from the 68 cases reported in 2024. Nonetheless, the data keeps indicating that young women are the most affected, with 35% of victims aged 31-40 and 33% aged 21-30.
The report also illustrates that in over half of the cases, the perpetrators were intimate partners. In fact, 33% of perpetrators were cohabiting partners and 18% were boyfriends, underscoring how most acts of lethal violence occur within the victims’ closest relationships.
Authorities reported that 96% of suspects have been identified or are detained, which reflects progress in prosecution to safeguard women’s lives in Bolivia.
