Bosnia and Herzegovina: Strengthening Legal Protections for Women Survivors of Violence

Bosnia and Herzegovina has pledged to amend its Criminal Code to better address gender-based violence, marking a significant step forward in protecting women and girls. The proposed changes aim to align national legislation with international standards, improve the criminalization of domestic and gender-based violence, and close gaps that have long left survivors without justice. If fully implemented, the amendment could lead to earlier intervention, better support for victims, and stronger accountability for perpetrators. The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission praised the move as a crucial development in ensuring women’s safety and upholding their human rights.
