Chilean influencer Sofía Huaiquil, who represents the Mapuche in Chile, creates social media content to bridge her ancestral culture and the contemporary realities in her country. To promote the role of Indigenous women in the region and spotlight the difficulties they face to achieve equal rights, she visited Honduras in the framework of the International Day of the Rural Woman (October 15).
Huaiquil participated in a female empowerment conversation at the University of José Cecilio del Valle (UJCV) to participate in the fair "Las Mujeres Rurales, Refundamos Honduras" (Rural Women, Let's Refund Honduras). Huaquil's trip can also be understood within the framework of Chile's feminist foreign policy strategy, the first in South America.
