Following the example of Medellin in 2024, the Urabá region has launched its own Purple Patrol (Patrulla Púrpura), a specialized mobilized police unit based in Apartadó to support women and LGBTIQ+ people facing domestic violence and sexual crimes. Staffed by four trained officers, the team will operate across the subregion, focusing on both rapid response and community prevention efforts, generating a community movement that aims to raise awareness on LGBTIQ+ and domestic violence. Citizens can access the service through hotlines 155 and 123. Authorities highlight the initiative as a step toward safer, more inclusive public spaces.
