Honduras: 2025 Regarded As Tragic Year For Femicides In Honduras
Tuesday, July 15, 2025 12:15 PM

Human rights defender Honorina Rodríguez has strongly criticized the Honduran government for its inadequate response to the country’s ongoing gender-based violence crisis, noting that 129 women have already been murdered in 2025. She emphasized the alarming level of impunity, pointing out that over the past 20 years, only 10% of femicide cases have received any form of judicial response—leaving 90% of these crimes unpunished. Rodríguez is calling for urgent institutional reform, including comprehensive prevention strategies, public education efforts, and a more effective judicial system to ensure accountability for perpetrators and justice for victims.
