Gilda Rivera, Director of the Centro de Derechos de Mujeres (Center for Women’s Rights) has denounced the alarming rate of femicides in Honduras, where a woman is killed approximately every 34 hours. She argues that this ongoing violence constitutes a national emergency due to the lack of commitment from both the Honduran state and society. Rivera also emphasized the systemic impunity surrounding these crimes, with an estimated 90% of cases remaining unprosecuted or unsolved.
