Mexico: Registration Open For Women’s Welfare Program
Monday, August 11, 2025 9:40 AM

Starting August 1, 2025, the Mexican government opened registration for the Mujeres Bienestar (Welfare Women) program, lowering the minimum age requirement from 63 to 60 years old. Originally planned for 2026, this change was moved forward by order of President Sheinbaum. The program, part of Mexico’s Programas para el Bienestar, provides bimonthly payments of 3,000 pesos to women aged 60–64 living in poverty or vulnerability who do not yet qualify for the constitutional senior pension available from age 65. The program aims to include all women, ensuring those who live in rural areas or marginalized conditions will be contacted through special visits. The first payment for new enrollees is scheduled for September.
