During an event marking the 2025 Lesbian Visibility Day, Nawal Kishor Shah Sudi, who is Nepal’s Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, acknowledged persistent inequality faced by sexual and gender minorities, especially queer women. He also noted that despite two decades of advocacy and government goals for improvement, many problems remain unresolved and underrepresented in both policy and feminist movements in Nepal. With violence, stigmatization, and silencing remaining persistent, the Minister underscored the importance of implementing protection laws to truly make strides in safeguarding the well-being of queer women.
