New Report: Raising Human Rights Violations in European Courts
Tuesday, April 29, 2014 11:30 AM

As stricter rules for bringing cases before the European Court of Human Rights ("ECHR") take effect, the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe has published a new guide to assist advocates in presenting human rights cases at the Court. The guide, "The European Court of Human Rights; Questions & Answers for Lawyers," is intended to assist lawyers in properly raising claims that involve violations of fundamental human rights, including women's human rights, before national courts in Europe and at the ECHR. The guide also offers advice on how to ensure proper enforcement of ECHR judgements. The publication of the lawyer's guide follows the January implementation of a new Rule 47 of the ECHR Rules of the Court imposing more restrictive conditions for filing individual applications alleging human rights violations.
