Nicaragua’s National Assembly marked the International Day of Rural Women by honoring their vital contributions to family, community, and national development.Deputy Amada Pineda called rural women the “fundamental pillar of the people,” praising their daily efforts and resilience. She emphasized that the recognition extends beyond words, citing government programs such as Bono Productivo Alimentario, Usura Cero, and Adelante, along with community health initiatives led by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo.
Deputy Pineda also highlighted progress in education, healthcare, and credit access, noting rural women’s leadership in family farming, food security, and sustainable practices. She reaffirmed parliament’s commitment to expand opportunities and strengthen the autonomy of Nicaragua’s rural women, whose contributions are crucial to achieving gender equality in the country.
