OHCHR Calls for Input on Discrimination against Women in Law and in Practice

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is calling upon civil society to submit information for a thematic study on discrimination against women in law and in practice and on how the issue is addressed throughout the United Nations human rights system. The Office was requested to prepare the thematic study under the Human Rights Council Resolution 12/17 entitled “Elimination of discrimination against women,” which was adopted in October 2009. The Resolution also reaffirms the obligation of states to take all necessary measures to eliminate discrimination against women and ensure that women are able to fully and equally participate in all spheres of life.

Relevant information should be sent to OHCHR by May 15, 2010. Please read the Call for Input for more information.
