A new Gender Facilitation Desk has been set up in Pakistan’s Khyber district to support women, transgender individuals, and people with disabilities. The initiative, created by the Social Welfare Department and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to help people affected by domestic violence, lack of education or healthcare, and legal discrimination. The desk will operate in Jamrud, Landi Kotal, and Bara and will be providing guidance on legal rights, access to services, and follow-up support. Activists and officials say this is a critical step for improving safety, awareness, and access to justice in tribal communities where cultural barriers often prevent people from seeking help.
