Tunisia: A Year Marked by Women’s Global Achievements

Between August 2024 and August 2025, Tunisian women achieved remarkable successes at home and abroad. Researcher Emna Hariga won Tunisia’s top award for women in science for her AI-powered medical platform, while Mouna Béji and Asma Belli were crowned pétanque world champions. In culture, Amel Guellaty’s film Where the Wind Comes From won Best Feature at the Mediterranean Film Festival, and actress Hafsia Herzi received the César Award for Best Actress. Neila Ben Zina was named Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur for her work in inclusive tech, while Jalila Mezni ranked among Forbes’ Most Powerful Businesswomen. Breaking barriers in leadership, Dr. Rym Ghachem Attia and Dr. Rym Horchani became the first women to head Tunisia’s Order of Physicians.
