Last year, the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which included new goals for ending violence and discrimination against women and girls across the globe. In response, UN Women has updated and relaunched the UN’s comprehensive database on violence against women. The new “Global Database on Violence against Women,” formally known as the UN Secretary-General’s database on violence against women, contains current information on state actions to combat violence against women, such as laws, policies, budget priorities, statistical data, and victim services. According to UN Women, the database is a “one-stop site” designed to strengthen the international, regional and domestic policy response to violence against women.
