Friday, November 14, 2025 1:35 PM

Venezuela moved toward establishing a national network of women in the energy and climate sectors during a forum organized by the Ministry of Electric Power and the UN Development Programme. Bringing together more than 200 participants from across the country, the event highlighted the growing leadership of women, from community organizers to renewable-energy specialists, in driving locally grounded energy solutions and advancing climate action.

Government officials and UN representatives emphasized that women’s technical and community expertise is essential to building an accessible, efficient, and sustainable energy system. The forum also strengthened the MUREAC movement, which promotes responsible energy use and climate action, and set the stage for future initiatives, including scientific publications and a technical advocacy event planned for 2026.
