The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) issued a decision in December urging member states to take action to prevent and combat violence against women. The decision describes violence against women as “one of the most pervasive human rights violations in the OSCE.” It reminds member states of their obligation to protect women from violence, including by adopting effective laws, gathering accurate data on violence, combating gender stereotypes, and providing adequate support services for victims.
