The United Nations “Official Document System” is now open and free to the general public. The Official Document System (ODS) is a system for storing and retrieving U.N. documents using high-speed networks and the Internet. The ODS contains over 800,000 UN documents from General Assembly resolutions to UN agency memoranda, and is available in all six of the UN’s official languages.

The ODS can be accessed at It covers all of the various types of UN documents beginning in 1993; however, older documents are being added daily. It also contains resolutions of the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council and the Trusteeship Council from 1946 on. The ODS does not contain any press releases, sales publications, U.N. Treaty Series or information brochures.
