Domestic Violence Increase in Solomon Islands
Saturday, August 25, 2007 11:17 AM

The Solomon Island National Council of Women (NCW) is calling upon the government to enact stronger laws against domestic violence that will not tolerate excuses of provocation and socio-economic pressures from husbands who abuse their partners.  This outcry stems from recent crime reports from Solomon police that acknowledge the dramatic rise in domestic abuse cases. The NCW asserts this problem is beyond their control and can only be solved by a clear commitment from the government to address this pressing issue.
