Report of the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights Aspects of the Victims of Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, Released on 24 January 2007

On January 24, 2007, the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights Aspects of the Victims of Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, released a report which covered the year 2006.

The report studies forced marriages as an element of trafficking in persons.  It defines and lists examples of forced marriage.  It also recommends ways to reduce the demand for these marriages, to protect and assist the victims, and to establish methods to combat forced marriages.
