The 2005 Would Situation Report focuses upon the issue of inequality and the importance of facing the challenges posed by inequality, so as to be able to reach the Millennium Development Goals.  It discusses how development is greatly hindered and cannot fully continue until the inequalities between countries are lessened.  The report examines four areas of emphasis: the need to address asymmetries caused by globalization, reducing inequality within policy and programs, which aim to reduce poverty, expanding employment opportunities and improving social cohesion and integration.
