Afghan Witness, an open-source project run by the United Kingdom-based Center for Information Resilience, reports that it has found an almost tripling in threats against politically active Afghan women since the takeover of power by the Taliban in 2021.  The report is based on over 78,000 posts directed at the accounts of about 100 such women. The messages included threats of death and sexual violence, as well as pornographic material, and also allegations that the women were agents of the West and making false claims to seek asylum abroad.
