Friday, September 8, 2023 9:40 AM

The Council of Europe's Expert Group on Action Against Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO) has published is baseline evaluation report on Croatia's implementation of provisions of the Istanbul Convention, including steps taken to comply with the treaty and areas where progress is still needed. Positive development include legislative amendments to improve compliance with the Istanbul Convention, and adoption of strategic documents to combat certain types of violence against women and gender inequality. Noted shortcomings include the need to recognize the gender dimension in policies to combat violence, the need for specialized services for victims, and services for women experiencing intersectional forms of discrimination.
