Cyprus: CyberEqual Project tackles digital violence against women and girls
Tuesday, May 6, 2025 8:40 AM

The Erasmus+ CyberEqual project, led by Association for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Family (SPAVO) and partners from five European countries, seeks to combat cyber violence against women and girls through education, awareness, and research. The initiative surveyed 467 young women aged 15–35 from diverse backgrounds to assess the forms, frequency, and effects of online gender-based violence. The results reveal widespread experiences of cyber abuse, major gaps in support systems, and significant barriers to justice. By highlighting these challenges, the project calls for stronger prevention efforts, better victim services, and broader public engagement to address this growing issue.
