As abortion-related laws have become more restrictive in Hungary in recent years, increasing numbers of pregnant women in Hungary are traveling to other countries, such as Austria, in search of abortion services. Women are choosing to undertake this travel despite higher costs in other countries and the inconvenience of travel so they can access these services. The restrictive legal situation impacts not only Hungarian women citizens, but also refugees such as Ukrainians who have fled the war and now reside in Hungary.
