India: Courage Award Given To Two Indian Girls In Bust Of Human Trafficking Ring

Two teens from the Indian state of West Bengal will receive a national award for “exemplary courage” for their part in the capture and arrest of a cross-border trafficking gang operating in Nepal and India. Trafficking of young girls for sexual slavery or forced domestic servitude increased dramatically in India in 2015, according to official Indian government data. The two girls worked with local police to catch the traffickers by pretending to be interested in the promise of good jobs. At least one missing Nepali girl was found during the investigation.
