At this year’s Women’s Film Week in Amman, UNESCO, UN Women, and the Royal Film Commission hosted a special event to explore how Jordan can better support women working in film and the broader creative industries. Additionally, the events also marked the Beijing Platform for Action’s 30th anniversary and 70 years of Jordan’s UN membership. While women are the majority of those pursuing arts education in Jordan, they still face barriers like funding challenges and cultural stigma when entering the professional world. Thus, the event speakers emphasized that empowering women in creative fields is key to advancing gender equality, driving economic growth, and changing societal narratives, which require collaboration across diverse groups of individuals, like policymakers, artists, and development partners.
