On July 18, 2023, Moldova's Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration announced the proposed establishment of a National Agency for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence. The proposal has the support of UN agencies, members of parliament, governmental ministries and NGOs, and would reflect a next step in implementation of the Istanbul Convention, to which the Moldovan government is a state party.
