New Report: UN Researchers Say Violence against Older Women Among World’s Least Prosecuted Crimes

The Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) has released its eighth report on femicide, focusing on the physical, mental, and financial mistreatment of women older than fifty-five. The report, “Femicide Volume VIII: Abuse and Femicide of the Older Woman,” found that this extensive abuse affects women in every country, often ends in death and is rarely prosecuted. The researchers said they “hope Femicide VIII helps to underline the urgency of the vulnerable situation of the older woman and results in substantial changes in policy and attitudes.”
