According to media reports, young Hindu girls in the Sindhu area of Pakistan are increasingly being abducted by Pakistani Muslims, forcibly converted to Islam and forced to marry. Amaranth Motumal, a lawyer and leader of Karachi’s Hindu community, said that the trend has been growing over the past four or five years and that there are at least 15 – 20 kidnappings and conversions of young girls from Karachi each month.
Media reports also state that a growing number of Hindus have been fleeing from Pakistan, primarily to neighboring India. The main reason for the migration is kidnapping of girls and growing persecution.
