Since Israel resumed its offensive in March, over 1,500 Palestinians have been killed, with the UN documenting 36 Israeli airstrikes between March 18 and April 9 that exclusively killed women and children. Amid a worsening humanitarian crisis, Israel’s total blockade of Gaza has halted all access to food, fuel, water, and medical aid which are conditions the UN describes as increasingly incompatible for life in Gaza. As more survivors, including children, remain trapped under rubble, the UN warns that the ongoing strikes and prolonged blockade risk the Palestinians’ very existence and survival.
