United States: Analysis of Hotline Data Shows Increase in Reported Human Trafficking Cases

This week, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) and the anti-trafficking organization Polaris released hotline data from 2014 showing a twenty-six percent increase in calls for help from trafficking survivors. Polaris CEO Bradley Myles credits the rise in calls to increased awareness on the part of trafficking victims that help is available. The majority of the calls received were from victims of sex trafficking. In total, over 5,000 cases of human trafficking were reported to Polaris and the NHTRC in 2014.

The NHTRC hotline number is 1-888-373-788. Victims may also text Polaris at "BeFree" (233733).
