USA: The Preventable Deaths of Abortion Restriction
Monday, August 4, 2025 4:00 PM

In June 2022, the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade was overturned, overturning a nationwide protection of reproductive rights. This led to a wave of preventable deaths, particularly in the states of Georgia and Texas. In Georgia, Amber Thurman and Candi Miller both died due to not having access to proper reproductive care, while in Texas, Joseeli Barnica, Nevaeh Crain, and Porsha Ngumezi died in similar cases. It's essential to note that these deaths were preventable and a result of careless lawmakers, ignoring the crucial reproductive care that is abortion. Those most affected by these restrictions are those facing systemic issues such as racism, economic instability, disability, age restrictions, and geographical location.
